Millington Play Day Report

Millington High girls basketball team's first ever Play Day seemed to be a success. It gave several teams the opportunity to see the kinks that need to be worked out before the regular season begins.

Here are highlights from the Play Day.

Ridgeway High brought the defensive heat. Whitney Cooper is back from her knee injury and showed that she can still shoot and distribute the ball. Tennessee State bound, Ashley Tate, used her quickness and ability to get to the rack. Terryn Offiong held the paint down on the boards and showed her nice soft touch on her shot. Jackson, TN transfer, Adrian Sanders, brings another dimension to the team. She is a lefty, long, aggressive and athletic. Surprise White Station transfer Hasina Mahummad displayed her slashing, ball handling and distributing abilities.

Melrose was lead by seniors, April Hall and LaWanda Clayborn. April was aggressive to the basket and LaWanda showed her slashing skills. There was also a noticeable supporting cast of a 3 point shooter and shot blocker.

Millington was solid, patient on offense and communicated well as a team. UT Martin bound, Latesa McLauglin showed her outside shooting abilities and Jasmine Newsome displayed her point guard abilities. University of Memphis bound, Ashley Robinson and Olivia Maddox took care of business in the paint.
