Mid-South Players Shine in Insider Exposure Junior All-American Camp 2017

Blue Star Media's Mark Lewis was in Memphis or rather Collierville evaluating the Insider Exposure Junior all-American Camp 2017.

Here's what he had to say about Mid-South Area players:

Sequoia Almond – 2021 – 5-5 – Point Guard – Cordova, Tenn. – Ballhandling and passing are elite…Sees the floor in transition and the halfcourt…Creates off hesitation move effectively…Attacks off make, miss and turnovers…Nice athleticism and strength for size and age

Karlee Bates – 2020 – 5-4 – Point Guard – Arlington, Tenn. – Ballhandling is efficient…In and out works well…Mixes up both speed and direction…Has some quickness…Carless at times…Consistency will have to evolve

Tylei Byrd – 2021 – 5-9 – Guard – Jonesboro, Ark. – Size, build and strength at guard…Impressive ballskills…Gets to the rim and handles contact…Pull up is there…Physically has the tools to be an impact on both ends of the floor…Major possibilities

Tess Darby – 2020 – 5-11 – Wing – Greenfield, Tenn. – Size and length on the wing…Has some ballskills…Can set up passes effectively…Reads the floor and defenders…Pull up is sound…Has depth in her game…Strength will have to come

Jayla Hemingway – 2019 – 5-10 – Guard – Collierville, Tenn. – Established physically strong guard…Using a change of speed much more effectively…Crossover still serving her well…Acceleration…Can produce near the rim but comfortable around the horn…Ducks her head to a degree on the jumper…Willing to mix things up…Taking better cushions on her close outs with good results

Mya Pratcher – 2022 – 5-11 – Forward – Olive Branch, Miss. – Wiry built forward…Has some ballskills to call upon…Lots of length…Had moments but seemed unsure at times…Confidence will come

Dionna Reed – 2021 – 6-2 – Post – Memphis, Tenn. – Size and frame in the post…Surprisingly mobile…Plays with an abandon unusual for interior players…Has great agility for size…Put it on the floor a time or two…Impressive awareness…Left hand has to evolve…All up to her

Johne Stewart – 2018 – 5-6 – Point Guard – Memphis, Tenn. – Quick and athletic…Ball skills are effective…Hesitation creates opportunities…Always looking to attack…Weak hand needs some attention…Lots of acceleration off her moves…Can make defenders pay for slow perimeter closeouts spotting up

Jireh Washington – 2018 – 5-9 – Guard – Memphis, Tenn. – Combo…Wiry athlete…Individual skills are strong…Lots of speed with the ball…First step can be explosive…Change of speed gets defenders out of their stance…Tends to overdribble at times…Pull up in traffic is sharp…Strong moments

Taylor Woodhouse – 2021 – 5-4 – Point Guard – Olive Branch, Miss. – Smooth and fluid with the ball…Mixes up speed and direction…Accelerates off her moves…Form is there on the jumper and the pull up…Needs to become a factor without the ball in her hands to keep defenders honest
