Last night at the University of Memphis vs Southern Miss game, I bumped into two Memphis Girls Basketball players. I would like to describe them as "The Present" and "The Future".
Overton's junior, Kelsey "KB" Briggs, I consider The Present. She is well over 6'0 feet. Last night, she stood next to Tigers forward DJ Stephens and he is not that much taller than her. He is listed at 6'5. So I will say she is close to 6'3. She can play multiple positions and college coaches are after her.
Cypress 8th grader, Gazmyne Herndon, I consider The Future. She exploded into this season with a 40 point performance and helped lead her team to the Middle School City Championship game. It was great to finally meet the young lady that individuals have been texting, emailing and calling me about. I look forward to watching her blossom in high school.
