This Saturday, November 19, 2011, I will be hosting the 4th Annual Granny's Girls Basketball Camp. This camp is in honor of my grandmother, Mattie Mae Woods, who passed away on February 6, 2008 from lung cancer. The American Cancer Society also benefits from this event. The camp is free to attend, however, participants are asked to donate 2 six packs of Ensure shake.
To give you some insight on how important the camp is to our local community. Last year, while I was delivering the Ensure shakes from the camp, I was told that the American Cancer Society had just ran out of Ensure. I had over 400 individual Ensure shakes in my vehicle. The previous 3 Granny camps have provided over 1200 individual bottles of Ensure shakes to Cancer patients.
This is the hardest and most emotional event I run each year. It gets very difficult for me to prepare for this event. I must take time to thank my family and staff for helping me put on this camp. I would also like to give a special thanks to Ridgeway Baptist Church. They allow me to host this event in their facility -- absolutely free.
If you would like to donate Ensure, feel free to visit Ridgeway Baptist Church at 2500 Ridgeway Rd, Memphis, TN 30119 during the camp hours of 10am-12pm.
Memphis, TN and the surrounding area has some of the most talented girls basketball players in the nation and everyone is taking notice. Continue to visit and I will tell you why Memphis is a Mecca for Top Girls and Womens College Basketball Unsigned Players, Recruits, and Prospects. MemphisGirlsBasketball.com is a resource for prep news, recruiters, recruiting, and area scouting report .
