Bianca Cage, Southwind guard sets state 3-pointer mark

Bianca Cage for 3

Bianca Cage had a Senior Night to remember. The Southwind guard set a state record for 3-pointers in a game with 13 and scored a career-high 48 points as the Lady Jaguars beat Kirby, 86-22, in a District 15-AAA game. Cage's 13 3-pointers came on 20 attempts.

"It was a special night," said Southwind coach Stan Gatlin, whose team is 23-3. "We had a good little crowd and everybody was going crazy. It was pretty spectacular."

Gatlin said he once had a player at Millington, LaTesa McLaughlin, who had 10 3-pointers after three quarters. But in that game he pulled McLaughlin, not knowing how close she was to the mark.

"One of my assistants told me Bianca had nine," Gatlin said. "And I told her, 'Baby just go for it.'"
