2016 Fall Exposure League Session 1 Week 2 Recap

This was the most intense week of action I believe I have ever witnessed during the Fall Exposure League existence. The intensity and aggressiveness was so high that I have been calling players during the week checking on their recoveries from scratches and flying elbows injuries. We didn't experience the same close games as Kick Off Week. However, I'm super proud of how all teams and players continued to fight and play hard till the end of the games.

Washington 47  Texas 31

Texas started the game undermanned and pretty much was scratching and clawing their way back into the game from the start. A couple of their players arrived to the gym right at tip off and it just put them at a disadvantage. Plus, Texas was without their second leading scorer, Heaven Thompson, who was on a recruiting trip to Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Again, congratulations to Heaven on her oral commitment to the school. The Jayla  Hemingway-led Washington was just to much for Texas to handle. Jayla led all scorers with 18 points and 6 steals. Texas was led by senior Tamia Aldridge who had another double-double 13 points and 11 rebounds.

UCONN 64  Tennessee 50

Tennessee just could not get it going on the offensive end. UCONN's (and Liberty commit) Ashtyn Baker turned into a possessed player. She was simply unstoppable in the open court and a majority of her shots were off of fast break layups. She lead the league in scoring this week with 25 points. Ashtyn didn't do it alone though.  Freshman Zipporah Davis has been hampered with a nagging hamstring for quite some time but you would not have known it by her game on Saturday. She is really maturing as a player -- Knocking down 3s, finishing with the left hand or operating as the distributor. She had 17 points points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Cleaning up the boards for UCONN was senior all around player Lindsey Whiteside with 14 rebounds and 8 points.  Tennessee was led by CBU commit Johnna Jones with 19 points and Sade' Hudson with 13 points and 7 rebounds....

Oregon State 53  Syracuse 38

This game actually started off pretty tight. Then Oregon State grew a lead behind freshman forward Taylor Clemons. Taylor shocked me with her ability to stretch the defense when she knocked down a 3 pointer. She finished the game with a team high 18 points. Taylor had help on the perimeter from 5'10 Caitlyn Wilson who was 2/3 from the 3 point line. But I was more impressed with her showing that she is more than a spot up shooter. She can get to the basket also. Caitlyn had 16 points and 8 rebounds.  Another player that displayed a well rounded game was Syracuse's Jada Taylor. I'm used to seeing her cranking out threes. But she demonstrated her ability to score off the dribble as well. Jada had a team high 13 points.
