DANIELLE BALLARD, Central basketball: A 5-8 freshman, Ballard scored a team-high 28 points in top-ranked Central’s 83-66 District 16-AAA road victory at Melrose on Tuesday. Last week in Phoenix, Ballard averaged 14 points per game in the Nike Tournament of Champions, helping Central to a 2-1 record and a third-place finish in the tournament’s Red Division.
