2014 MLK Champhionship Day Recap

Brianna Cooks (#5)

Kynadi Kuykendoll (Snowden)

Snowden loss a lot of talent to players (and coach) going on to high school.  Eighth graders Brianna Cooks and Kynadi Kuykendoll are the returning leaders for the squad and have a big responsibility on their shoulders.

Lanetta Williams
Middle School Tournament Champions Cordova is simply loaded from top to bottom. This team can probably battle with some Memphis high school teams. Tournament MVP 6'3ish, eighth grader Lanetta Williams stands out before the ball is thrown up. She holds the paint down and even showed that her game stretches beyond the arch.  Cordova will be hard to stop this season ..

Jasmine Carson

To my knowledge, the championship game was Central's 4th game in two days and second OT game. With only 7 players, you would think they would be exhausted.. Not this group. They are talented and they come to battle. Coach Haynes uses every second of the game instructing and pushing the players through. Freshman Jasmine Carson is emerging as a scoring machine for the team. Notching her first 30 point performance of her career.

Morgan Morris

Kiara Caswell with ball

High School Tournament Champion Craigmont is an experienced group of upperclassmen. Transfer Kiara Caswell (2015) is a nice addition to the group operating as a primary ball handler. Tournament MVP Morgan Morris'  (2016) athleticism, length, aggressiveness and relentlessness was on full display during the game.
