I was reading a story on a site mentioning a player ranked number 2 in the nation in scoring. Of course, I had to find this list so I could see if any Memphis players were on it.
According to the recently released list of top scorers in Memphis, St. Mary's freshman, Kaylan Pugh, leads the city in scoring at 25.67. However, she is not mentioned in the MaxPreps national list. Unfortunately St. Mary's is not documenting individual statistics in the MaxPreps system. If they were, Kaylan Pugh would be ranked in between 52-55 nationally. Not bad!
According to MaxPreps.com, the national's top scorer is Summers County senior, Candace Brown, in Hinton, West Virginia. She is averaging 37.3 points in 9 games. You can see the national list here.
You can filter the list by state to see who is ranked in scoring in Tennessee.
Here is the top 10:
1 Lorna Hudson (Sr) Peabody (Trenton, TN) 21.4
2 Bianca Cage(Sr) Southwind (Memphis, TN) 20.3
3 Luz Mena(Jr) Big Sandy (TN) 17.9
4 Amber Fair(So) Union City (TN) 17.9
5 Ke'shunan James(Jr) Jackson South Side (Jackson, TN) 17.1
6 Watesha Mcneal(Sr) Fayette Ware (Somerville, TN) 17.1
7 Taleeah Cross(Jr) South Fulton (TN) 16.9
8 Rachel Bell(So) Creek Wood (Charlotte, TN) 16.9
9 Kahdejah Stevens (So) Trezevant (Memphis, TN) 16.6
10 Caroline Warden(Sr) Jackson County (Gainesboro, TN) 15.8
REMEMBER: In order to be included in the MaxPreps.com list, your school's statistics must be maintained in the MaxPreps' system.
