Erica Ousley (Fairley) led the team with 18 points and Alexanderia Winston (Bolton) (at right) tied her season high with 15 points in the Southwest women’s basketball team’s 84-65 win over Dyersburg State on December 3 in Dyersburg, Tennessee. The win improved the Lady Saluqis’ record to 10-1 on the season including 4-1 in the TCCAA.
After leading by only two at the half (37-35), the Lady Saluqis outscored Dyersburg State 47-30 in the second half. In addition to Ousley, who scored 11 of her points after intermission, other top second half scorers were Reagan White (Cordova) (9), Amber Dunlap (Bolton) (8) and Tenisha Hobson (7). As a team, the Lady Saluqis shot nearly 55 percent in the second half while limiting Dyersburg State to only 33 percent.
The Southwest women’s basketball team will play its final games before the holiday break this weekend at the Verties Sails Gymnasium against Jackson State on December 9 at 6 p.m. and Columbia State on December 10 at 2 p.m.
