Rick Ross To Perform At Memphis Madness
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tigers have announced hip hop artist Rick Ross as the feature entertainment at this year’s Memphis Madness, presented by Ashley Furniture HomeStore, on Saturday, Oct. 18.
The award-winning rapper will perform several of his Billboard-topping hits during a half-hour show as part of the Tigers annual basketball preseason celebration at FedExForum.
“I love Memphis Madness because it means basketball season is almost here,” men’s basketball coach Josh Pastner said. “It’s also a great opportunity for us to showcase Tiger Nation as the best fans in college basketball to our new players and recruits. We’re excited to add Rick Ross to this year’s event and look forward to introducing the 2014-15 Tigers to our fans.”
A ticket will be required to gain admission to Memphis Madness once again this year. Tickets are $5 for all seating sections and will go on sale to the general public on Monday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. (CT). Tickets can be purchased online at gotigersgo.com or in person in the Athletic Ticket Office at 570 Normal Street in Memphis. Fans that purchase tickets online are encouraged to take advantage of the Tigers’ new print-from-home ticket feature.
Tickets will also be available for purchase at select Memphis-area Wingstop locations (Winchester, Poplar, Union, Bartlett, and Southaven) beginning Monday at 11 a.m. (CT). Individuals will be allowed to purchase a maximum of six tickets.
Tickets will not be available for purchase at FedExForum. Parking in the Toyota Parking Garage will be $5 on the day of the event.
Additionally, Ashley Furniture Homestore is running a special Memphis Madness promotion this weekend, Friday, Oct. 3 through Sunday, Oct. 5. Patrons will receive two free VIP Memphis Madness tickets with any furniture purchase at Ashley’s four Memphis-area locations this weekend only.
The athletics department also plans to provide free tickets to a number of area youth programs and organizations. A limited number of free tickets will be held for University of Memphis students the day of the event.
Doors for Memphis Madness open at 5:00 p.m. (CT). The festivities begin at approximately 4:00 p.m. (CT) with entertainment from the Tigers cheerleaders and pom squads, the Mighty Sound of the South and a live DJ on FedExForum’s outdoor plaza.
Autograph vouchers will be given to the first 1,000 fans entering the arena. The men’s squad will sign autographs from approximately 5:00 to 5:45 p.m. while the women’s team will take the floor in the arena. (CT). The first 10,000 fans will receive a free 2014-15 schedule poster.
After the autograph session ends, the Tiger Spirit Squads will perform followed by the introduction of both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Other basketball activities, fan giveaways and special promotions will also be included in the program, culminating in a live on-floor performance by Rick Ross.
