I am a couple of months late on this.. I did not know we had a former Memphis Girls Basketball player in college coaching. Briarcrest's Ashley Earley. Here is part of the press release.
Virginia women's basketball coach Joanne Boyle announced Wednesday (April 25) that Ashley Earley has been hired as an assistant coach with the Cavalier program.
At Virginia, Earley will mentor the post players and assist in all recruiting efforts.
"I am blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of this staff at the University of Virginia," Earley said.
"I believe that excellence is a habit and the University of Virginia is the epitome of this. UVa's tradition both in the classroom and on the court is unparalleled. Upon meeting Coach Boyle and her staff I was immediately impressed with their vision and excitement about the direction of the program and wanted to be a part of their future successes. I look forward to what we will accomplish at Virginia."
Earley arrives in Charlottesville after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Marquette, where she served in a similar capacity developing the Golden Eagle post players. Marquette finished 24-9 in her first season in 2010-11 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
