While the nation was awaiting word of Tyreke Evans decision to pick Memphis to play college basketball for on Wednesday, April 16, 2007, I was able to witness another National Letter of Intent Signing of 2 local talents. Ridgeway High's, Kurstin Mead and Devia Harris will both suit up at Division 1 schools next fall. Kurstin will be attending Robert Morris University and Devia will be attending Kennesaw State University.
It was an awesome crowd of family, friends, teammates and former coaches for both players at Ridgeway High School. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to speak to the crowd and show a short film on what it took for these two young ladies to get the opportunity to sign a National Letter of Intent. WNBA Houston Comets, Ashley Shields, was in attendance and shared her story and experience of mentoring Kurstin during her time of ups and downs during recruitment.
